Teams

Do you need a team-mate to make up a team? Visit our Facebook page,

FacebookKingston SE Triathlon

Teams may enter in the International Cycles Olympic Course, Crown Inn Short Course, Kevin Wright Plumbing Come 'n' Tri Course and in the Harrington Superkidz.

Teams compete against each other in their race and may be comprised of males only, females only or mixed. A team may be comprised of two or three members. Only one entry per team is required but all member names must appear under which leg they will race. If ALL team members are TA members, the ODM fee - see below - does not need to be paid for that team. TA membership numbers must be provided to avoid the ODM fee.

The School Teams competition is in the Crown Inn Short Course. To register as a School Team, go to the Crown Inn Short Course page. School teams must have a declaration signed by a senior staff member of the representative school. Click the link to obtain a copy of the School Team Entry Form.

Race Competition Rules

Triathlon Australia Race Competition Rules apply. Copies will be available at the Administration Marquee on race day, or may be downloaded by clicking the link above. Our races are part of the Triathlon SA series and Triathlon SA Club Championship events, and as such, are fully sanctioned by the Triathlon Association of SA and Triathlon Australia.

One Day Membership Fee (ODM fee)

The ODM fee applies to races that are sanctioned by Triathlon Australia (TA). Non-TA members must pay the ODM fee which provides insurance cover for that race. Note that the registration fee is identical for all participants: the ODM fee is on top of the registration fee and is passed 100% to TA. Consequently non-members entry fees appear to be higher than the fee for members. If ALL team members are TA members, the ODM fee does not need to be paid for that team. TA membership numbers must be provided to avoid the ODM fee.

The ODM fees for the 2017/2018 season set by Triathlon Australia are:

International Cycles Olympic Course

$17.50

Crown Inn Short Course

$7.50

Kevin Wright Plumbing Come 'n' Tri Course

$2.00

Harrington Super Kidz

$1.00

Timing Chip

Event Timing will be timing our event. The timing chip is an active transponder worn around the ankle as per instructions in the race pack and given during the briefing. Participants must wear it during the whole race to ensure all legs and transitions are timed. A team member must hand the timing chip to the next member or else that member will not be timed and the team will NOT obtain a complete result.

The chip MUST be returned at the end of the race or the participant will be charged AUD$80.

Race Bibs

Your bib must be positioned (unmodified and fully-visible) to the front of your shirt and displayed throughout the entire race. We recommend you write your full name, emergency contact information and any allergies or health conditions you have on the back of your race bib.

NOTE: Please do not write YOUR phone number on the back of the bib but that of your EMERGENCY CONTACT.

Spectator Etiquette

If you've ever participated in a triathlon, you will know how crowd support can immensely help. If you're planning on watching our races, follow these tips to be an asset on the race course.

Make Signs

Runners love to read signs along the race course to help break the monotony. If you're supporting a family member or friend, make a sign with their name that will not only encourage but also help them to easily identify you.

Respect the Course

Don't stand or walk on any part of the course. It's not fair to participants if you make the race course even more crowded or become an obstacle that they have to go around. If you can't see the participants from where you're standing because it's too crowded, move to a different viewing location. Please ensure you know where your children are and keep them away from the participants zooming by, especially on the cycling course.

Pick an Encouraging Phrase

Rather than just clapping as runners go by, pick a phrase or two to yell. Some good ones include: "Way to go;" "You can do it;" "Looking strong;" "Nice job;" "You're flying;" or "Looking good." Many triathletes display their first names on their shirts or race bibs. So if you see someone's name, you can always add that to the end of your catch phrase.

Resident Information

The upcoming Naracoorte Toyota 30th Annual Kingston SE Triathlon which will be held on Sunday 11th February 2018. As the name implies, triathlons are comprised of three distinct sporting disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. Our club actually organises four separate triathlons of different degrees of difficulty, which we expect will attract well over 400 participants, with many elite athletes vying for points in the Triathlon SA State Series for the OLYMPIC Course. Quite a spectacle!

Our town is very well known on the Australian triathlon circuit as an entity that organises an extremely good event. This is not only because of the tremendous community support in terms of sponsorship from local businesses and volunteerism from citizens but also because of the support from residents at large. As in past years, there will be closures of waterways, streets and roads.

All boating and recreational activities will be suspended in the area 150 metres out to sea from Dow Avenue through to 150 metres out to sea from Coulthard Street, from 8:00am until 10:30am except for the competing triathletes.

Council has approved the closure of Marine Parade to traffic between Arthur Street to Pinks Beach Road, the eastbound lane of Pinks Beach Road, and the westbound lane of Young and Arthur Streets, from 8 am to 12 noon, but the participants will also be riding on Golf Links Road at the same time.

In addition, the western carriageway – northbound lane - of the Southern Ports Highway between Pinks Beach Road and Young Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between 8.45am and 11.45am. Police will escort vehicles along the eastern carriageway of this section of road, but delays can be expected as traffic will be stopped until the Police vehicle is able to lead the next convoy. Vehicles entering this stretch of highway (whether at either end or from properties/roads along the route) MUST wait for the Police-led convoy, and tag onto the end of it.

We apologise for the inconvenience to residents and others needing to travel these routes, but the safety of the competitors is paramount. A map showing the circuit can be downloaded by clicking here.

The triathlon is an excellent opportunity to showcase our town to the wider population of South Australia and western Victoria. The attraction of such visitors boosts our economy, improves our facilities, and generally makes life more pleasurable for the permanent residents as well as the visiting tourists. Your support in making this event safe and friendly will enhance the chances of Kingston continuing to attract distant competitors year after year. We have a wonderful town, with a very supportive community as evidenced by over 120 volunteers who help make this day run smoothly.

The competitors would enjoy seeing you lining the route to encourage them. Why not make a day of it by setting up some chairs and enjoying some food and a drink while the entertainment passes by your front door? Join us for presentations at noon in Thredgold Reserve.

The full lists of overall placings in individual and team events in each course will be available on this website about 4 or 5 hours after the event.
